Firstly
we had to make sure that our film was along the guidelines of a rated 15 movie.
From this link you can see the research we have done. This
was to ensure we did not have anything inappropriate and goes against these
strict rules.

We could have improved our questionnaire by making sure we know what the audience would like
to see in a thriller opening as this would make things easier and more
appealing to the same audience.
The protagonist shown in our opening is a
stereotypical attractive female teenager, this helps the target audience to
feel and be able to understand the protagonist shown in the film. We have used
one of our members in the group ‘Flora Clarke’ this is because she fits the
criteria well and is also very reliable as we would be able to film when we are
all available and during lesson times. We have also put up a timetable of when
we are all free and available to film http://1212group12012.blogspot.co.uk/2012/03/free-periods.htmlto
help achieve this. All the girls shown throughout the film (In the scrap book
or in the racks or hanging up on the line) are all eye-catching teenagers who
have this stereotypical look (long hair nice eyes petite figure) by this we
were able to gain the male audience as well as gaining the female audience to
be able to look at her and compare themselves to her.
From our
audience research we have realised that our audience had quite similar things
in common. Examples of these would be:
Sounds: As our theme is quite girlie and the character is effected by
her past and her mother who she only remembers whilst she was young, due to
killing her because she envied her beauty. The jewellery box can suggest and be
a reminder as well as giving the audience a hint that there’s something about
her past and that she holds on too. This gives a creepy feel especially
including the sound of the gloves being put on which can give off the
impression of a disturbed mind and that something is wrong this makes the
audience intrigued.Through our target audience we can see that our audience like main
stream music, so we have also used the music to help reach the target audience
as most girls when they were younger had a jewellery box that had a similar
instrumental to the one being played in our opening. Although this is not
very mainstream everyone has heard of such sounds as
its very common.
Visual
styles: Through our editing during post production we had changed the speed and
flipped our clips in reverse so that we had no continuity problems.
Variety of
shots used: The use of point of view shots can appeal to the audience as they
are seeing things from the protagonist point of view. So they also have an
insight of the life the character is living. The use of shots are not however
lengthy as this could be quite boring and divert the attention of the audience
away. Our aim is to keep them focused so they can feel the real tension and
suspense throughout. However we have managed to keep the shots long enough for
the audience to remember the objects shown and emphasise the detail and the
importance of these objects. The other shots such as low angle high angle and midshot
close ups and extreme close ups can keep the audience attention so that they
see and are aware of everything that is going on.
Ethnicity:
Again from our audience research we have found out that the demographic of the
audience was mainly White/British females. So we have used pictures of white
females throughout the opening on the racks, on the line hanging, as the
character and in the scrap book.
